For many wine lovers, the name <\/span>Ferrer Bobet<\/b><\/a> is inextricably linked with the <\/span>Priorat wine region<\/b><\/a>. <\/span>Priorat wine<\/span><\/a> is some of Spain\u2019s very best. These are robust and full-bodied red wines, commanding high prices, capable of ageing and well able to stand up to strong food pairings. The region\u2019s vineyards are steep and hilly, producing wines of excellent quality. Since the late 1980s, the quality of Priorat wines has shot up considerably, and today the region holds the honoured classification of DOQ. Much like the vineyards themselves, competition in Priorat is steep. There are many producers all vying to be the best in the region, though few can come close to Ferrer Bobet. Located over 15 hectares of vines in the esteemed <\/span>Porrera<\/b> subregion, the winery makes a range of wines that express the complexity of its soils and quality of its production techniques. The vineyards are almost exclusively made up of slate soil. These soils are the region\u2019s most prized and are known locally as <\/span>llicorella<\/span><\/i>. The reputation of Ferrer Bobet Priorat in Spain and throughout the world is so high that is sometimes easy to forget that the winery was born relatively recently!<\/span><\/p>\n
