Arestel Cava is a Spanish Cava produced for discount supermarket giant Lidl. It is a cheap and cheerful blend of Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada. It offers good value for money within its category, and is certainly worth considering the next time you’re stocking up for a party and you’ve got a Lidl store close by. Keep in mind that such bargains can be difficult to keep in stock, particularly when it comes to limited supermarket shelf space.

If you’re looking for bargain bubbles, though, you no longer need to rely on your local store having any bottles in stock. Buying wine online, from a reputable retailer like INVINIC, allows you to check availability on a very wide range of wines – including great value sparkling wines – from the comfort of your phone, tablet or laptop. Let’s take a look at what else is out there, besides Arestel Cava.

Other great value sparkling wines

Arestel Cava packs a punch at its low price point, but it’s not the only example of a good value bottle of bubbly. Cava and Champagne from other producers can be had for very reasonable prices, and when you buy online it’s all at your fingertips!

Great value Cava

We like Cava. It’s fun and lively, yet has a bit of complexity too. It’s closer to a Champagne than a Prosecco – and that means you get a classy sparkling wine at a very decent price. Check out some of our favourites:

  • Castillo Perelada Brut Reserva: When it comes to good value sparkling wine, this one is hard to beat. Like the Arestel Cava, this is a non-vintage blend of Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada and made in the traditional method. If you like one, you’ll like the other! Like the Arestel Cava, it’s got a super-low price tag – this is the sort of thing that you could stock up on for big birthday parties or other celebrations without breaking the bank!
  • Naveran Brut Vintage: Most sparkling wine in the lower price range will be non-vintage, which means that it can contain wines from a number of different vintages, usually blended together in order to achieve a consistent style. There is nothing wrong with this, and “non-vintage” is not a dirty word, but vintage Cavas and Champagnes tend to be more interesting as the winemaker has decided to make a wine exclusively with the grapes from one year. The winemaker feels that that year’s harvest is good enough that it deserves its own wine. Naveran Brut Vintage is one such example, and presents seriously good value for money at this price!

Great value Champagne

OK, let’s be real: Champagne is not cheap. That’s just a fact. There are many reasons why Champagne is more expensive than Cava, Prosecco and other sparkling wines. Some are quite valid, others may be open to debate. In any event, Champagne may not be cheap, but it can certainly still offer excellent value! As a general rule, established and internationally distributed brands like Baron-Fuente, Pierre Paillard and Bollinger all make excellent quality wines at each level of price. Their reputation is such that they just do not make bad wines. Their less expensive wines – generally non-vintage examples – offer virtually guaranteed quality at a relatively affordable price.
