Today we would like to explain you with a bit more detail the history and characteristics of another of the best wines produced by the great Raül Bobet.
Thalarn is a red wine which is produced under the designation of origin Costes del Segre of the winery Castell d’Encus. This winery is located in a small village called Talarn, near Tremp in the area of the catalonian pre-Pyrenees.
Raül Bobet’s in charge of this project, which has a clear philosophy based on the following: maximum care of the vineyard and its fruit, tireless passion and dedication, as well as respect for the environment.
The wine is a single variant of Syrah produced with grapes growing on more than 1000 meters hight, from there the perfect balance between its pure fruitiness and its elegant freshness.
Also important to emphasize that the Thalarn is made from a grape that comes exclusively from its own grounds, and manually harvested in 10 kg crates so that they arrive intact to ferment. Fermentation of this wine is performed in different containers of different materials, such as the stone wine press where the monks fermented the wine in the twelfth century, or, as in wood and stainless steel vats. This type of preparation gives the wine complexity and personality.
Here are the tasting notes taken from the website of the winery Castell d’Encus:
View: garnet color
In nose: Spicy flower scents (vines, jasmine …) and red fruits like strawberry or raspberry.
In mouth: First silky with good acidity and a long finish
Aftertaste: varied with understory
Raül Bobet and his team are about to achieve something very difficult under the present circumstances: excellent wines, recognized around the world and renowned (as witness the points rating by Robert Parker or the Peñin Guide) for a really reasonable price, all with a surprising constancy one year after another.
Don’t miss that you can buy the Thalarn 2011 at INVINIC.
