In its latest edition (August 2012), The Wine Advocate, the Robert Parker’s magazine, has rated the Vizcarra Senda del Oro Roble 2011 with 93 points.
This wine is made from 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grapes, from 15 year old vines.
The Vizcarra Senda del Oro 2011 is, according to Parker, an intense and structured wine with floral notes and hints of red fruits and licorice. It has sensational values of the renowned Ribera del Duero appellation. Full-bodied and with excellent structure, this multidimensional Ribera del Duero already drinks fabulously well. It should continue like this during the next decade, so it can be enjoyed from 2012 to 2022.

It combines well with roasts, stews, cold meat, legumes and mushrooms.

In 2007, Bodegas Vizcarra opened their new facilities, in which the entire process of production and aging (maceration, pressing, decanting…) is done by gravity. This avoids the use of pumps, and achieves greater concentration of aromas and the tannins that are extracted are much more elegant.
This system allows total observance of the final product and the resulting wines are noted for their elegance and personality.
